easyJet Launches Flight Paths Initiative to Inspire Young Brits into Cabin Crew Careers

easyJet is excited to announce a new recruitment campaign, Flight Paths, aimed at young Brits who are not currently in employment, education, or training (NEET).

This initiative seeks to demonstrate how accessible and rewarding a career as cabin crew can be, helping young people launch fulfilling careers in aviation.

The airline plans to hire nearly 1,000 new cabin crew members for 2026 as part of its annual recruitment drive. It is encouraging school leavers and young adults—many of whom are exploring their next steps after receiving A-level results—to apply.

Interested candidates can register now on the easyJet website.

Breaking Down Misconceptions About Cabin Crew Roles

Recent data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) highlights a pressing issue. Nearly one million young people in the UK are classified as NEETs, representing 12.5% of the nation’s youth.

By expanding its cabin crew recruitment, easyJet aims to address this challenge, offering opportunities to reduce this figure and support career growth in the aviation sector.

Despite the appeal of working in aviation, new research commissioned by easyJet reveals that misconceptions about cabin crew roles are deterring young people aged 16–24 from pursuing them.

A striking 92% of respondents were unaware that no minimum educational qualifications are required to apply.

Additionally, two-thirds (66%) of young Brits mistakenly believe they are underqualified for cabin crew training.

As a result, 88% of this age group have never considered an airline career. Nevertheless, 59% expressed interest in aviation as a career path.

Gender stereotypes also pose a barrier. The research shows that 89% of young men believe cabin crew roles are traditionally female-dominated. 38% admitted they wouldn’t consider the job due to these outdated perceptions.

To challenge these myths, easyJet is opening its London Gatwick Training Centre this summer for free taster sessions.

These hands-on experiences, led by cabin crew and training experts, will allow young people to learn about the role firsthand. Interested individuals can book their place through the easyJet website.

Why Choose a Career as Cabin Crew?

A career as cabin crew offers a chance to develop valuable life skills. This includes communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.

The role also provides opportunities to travel and grow professionally. According to the research, 26% of 18–24-year-olds are drawn to jobs that involve international travel. In addition, 28% are eager to work in team-oriented environments.

These aspects make cabin crew an ideal career choice for many young people.

Michael Brown, easyJet’s Director of Cabin Services, emphasized the value of the role. “Being cabin crew is more than just a job—it’s a dynamic career filled with variety, teamwork, and opportunity.”

“It’s a pathway to progress within the aviation industry. If you’re enthusiastic, enjoy working with people, and are eager to learn, our taster sessions are the perfect way to explore this exciting opportunity. We’re thrilled to welcome the next generation of cabin crew.”

Supporting Young People’s Career Journeys

The Flight Paths initiative builds on easyJet’s ongoing efforts to support youth employment. Through its Enterprise Advisors Programme, easyJet employees from departments like Engineering, IT, Data, and Operations collaborate with schools near the airline’s major UK hubs in Luton and Gatwick.

These partnerships provide career advice and employability support to help young people navigate their future.

Aviation Minister Mike Kane praised the initiative. “It’s inspiring to see easyJet, a leading British company, investing in our youth and encouraging them to pursue aviation careers. We’re committed to breaking down barriers to opportunity across the UK. We ensure everyone can access rewarding careers through our Plan for Change.”
