Elden Ring is a masterpiece from the geniuses at FromSoftware combined with the brilliance of Game of Thrones author, George R.R. Martin. Since its launch in 2022, fans have been desperate for more, and the good news is that the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC release date may be imminent. Leaks have previously pointed to February, but we may now know the exact launch day.

As mentioned, the game first came out in February 2022 and it sold 20 million copies in just one year. It took over the gaming world with the trademark FromSoftware brutal difficulty but with the added element of a gorgeous and gigantic open-world completely free to explore. FromSoftware delighted everyone when they confirmed the Shadow of Erdtree DLC expansion, but we haven’t heard of or seen this post-launch content ever since.

It’s a shame we haven’t seen anything since its confirmation almost one year ago, but the good news is that its release may actually be much sooner than you think.

Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC release date leak

The possibly leaked release date for Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree is February 25th. This comes courtesy of a possible controller leak shared on the GamingLeaksAndRumors subreddit. This is a follow-up to the original controller leak from December 2023 that pointed to a February launch window.

While the original controller leak on ResetEra said that the controller would be available in February 2024 for players to ‘sync with the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree expansion release,’ this new leak specifically points to February 25th. Naturally, there is massive skepticism online as February 25th is a Sunday, and games and DLC typically launch during the week rather than the weekend.

It’s possible that the leak could be entirely fake, or it’s possible that the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC could come out slightly before or after the controller drops. Images of the leaked controller supposedly come from PlayAsia, and you can find the images on the IdleSloth84_ Twitter account.

Aside from this supposed controller, a mysterious DLC package was also added to SteamDB earlier this month for the first time since Elden Ring’s launch in 2022. It says ‘unknown app’ so its identity remains a mystery, but the expectation is that it’s the post-launch expansion. In addition, Ziostorm noticed that the Bandai Namco EU YouTube channel’s playlist for the game received an update on January 4th. It’s speculated that this update could possibly be a trailer waiting to go live.
