Norse Atlantic Airways has reported a strong second quarter for 2025, showcasing significant revenue growth and improved financial results.

The airline achieved a sound 97% load factor and a 36% increase in passenger numbers compared to Q2 2024.

These achievements highlight the success of Norse’s data-driven commercial strategy and its commitment to operational efficiency.

Key Financial and Operational Highlights

In Q2 2025, Norse Atlantic recorded a 27% surge in passenger revenue, reaching an operating profit (EBIT) of USD 4 million—a first for the airline’s second quarter.

The load factor, a key industry metric, hit an industry-leading 97%, up 15 percentage points from the previous year. For the first half of 2025, the load factor averaged an impressive 96%.

Passenger Revenue per Available Seat Kilometer (PRASK) increased by 8%, while Available Seat Kilometers (ASK) on Norse’s own network grew by 18%.

Despite these gains, the airline reported a net loss of USD 6 million, with a cash balance of USD 24 million at quarter’s end.

A slight decline in average passenger revenue was noted, primarily due to adjustments in airfare bundles.

However, Norse’s focus on reducing unit costs year-over-year continues to strengthen its financial position.

Strategic Success with ACMI and Fleet Optimization

Norse’s fleet of 12 modern Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners forms the backbone of its operations. The airline has successfully implemented a dual-leg model, balancing its scheduled network with Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance (ACMI) charters to reduce market risk.

In Q2, 11 aircraft operated on Norse’s network, while one was leased to Indigo, India’s leading airline. Plans are in place to transfer five additional aircraft to IndiGo for ACMI operations starting in the coming months, pending regulatory approval.

By early 2026, Norse’s scheduled network will operate with six aircraft, optimizing routes for maximum passenger and fare potential while securing predictable revenue from ACMI contracts.

Market Position and Future Outlook

CEO and Founder Bjørn Tore Larsen emphasized the airline’s momentum, stating, “Our record load factor and strong passenger growth reflect the success of our commercial strategy launched in 2024.”

“We’ve delivered affordable, value-for-money travel while achieving a world-leading 97% load factor, a standout result in an industry where above 90% is exceptional.”

Looking ahead, Norse is navigating a softening Transatlantic market but sees robust demand for its Asia and Africa routes in the fall/winter season.

Forward bookings for the 2025 summer season are trending well above last year, signalling continued growth.

The airline also renewed its charter agreement with P&O Cruises for the next two winter seasons, ensuring steady operations flying cruise passengers from the UK to the Caribbean between November and March.

Industry Recognition and Customer Impact

Norse Atlantic’s commitment to value has earned it the title of the best long-haul airline in the value segment for Northern Europe, awarded by Skytrax.

Since its inaugural flight three years ago, Norse has carried 3.6 million passengers as of June 2025, solidifying its role as a provider of affordable, high-quality air travel.
