In the last few moments, United Airlines flight UA945, operated by a Boeing 787 between Frankfurt and Chicago, has declared an emergency in UK airspace.
N12020 is the aircraft involved in the incident.

UPDATE #1 @ 0917 UK time – The aircraft is currently descending to the north-east of Newcastle.
UPDATE #2 @ 0922 UK time – At this stage, it is unclear what the nature of the emergency is nor the chosen diversion field.
INFO UPDATE #3 @ 0923 UK time – N12020 is the aircraft involved in the incident.
As per Planespotters, N12020 is a 1.8 year old Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner that was delivered to the airline in December 2022.
Furthermore, of the 787-10 variant, United Airlines has 21 of them in their fleet.
Moreover, the average age stands at 4.2 years for that variant of aircraft.
UPDATE #4 @ 0926 UK time – United Airlines has confirmed that UA945 Frankfurt-Chicago, which declared an emergency, will be diverting to Edinburgh.
UPDATE #5 @ 0928 UK time – UA945 is currently to the north-east of Edinburgh, presumably to burn fuel before coming in for an approach.
