Apologies to anyone who isn’t British; this article about a dog will mean absolutely nothing to you.
Fallout: London is a fan-made project dropping the nuclear wasteland on the familiar streets of London. It’s been long awaited, and its launch has been one of the most community-driven game launches in history. Now that it’s here, one of the most interesting things to note is that there’s a bulldog called Churchill, but the developers missed a trick in not giving it a nuclear-powered skateboard.
For the uninitiated, there’s a car insurance brand in the United Kingdom; Churchill Insurance. It’s headquartered in Bromley – my hometown – and is very well-known for its timeless adverts of its mascot bulldog. Bromley is plastered with references to Winston Churchill too – there’s Churchill Gardens not too far from the Churchill Insurance office, and you can visit most of these locations in Fallout: London. Anyway, Churchill Insurance loves a good and uncanny advert. Here’s the first one of them.

Spoilers ahead for Churchill’s location, but you will find it in the Prilladog Food Factory, named after the game’s project lead. You’re going to hear a factory guard trying to stop a fight between dogs. Do what you need here, and you will be rewarded with the choice to take Churchill on as your own. This is essentially the game’s version of Dogmeat. Now that’s a good dog.
People have reported a few issues with sound balancing regarding Churchill’s footsteps. There are recommended sound mods which should be used in conjunction with this.
Fallout: London is packed with references to British culture. For the first time in a long time, we get to see all of these nods in a game, and it’s pretty rewarding. Rebranded Tescos, the former Speaker, Doctor Who’s most beloved actors, Churchill, and many many more.
